BMC stands as Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( bmc full form ). It is also called Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai or MCGM. It was previously known by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Bombay until 1966. BMC is India’s most wealthy municipal corporation. The annual budget for MCGM is greater than that of other smaller states.

It waswas established under the Bombay Municipal Act 1888. It oversees administration of Mumbai's city and civic infrastructure. Trushna Vishiwasrao was elected the first female corporator to this corporation in 2015.
